Preparations So Far

Now that I have finished with my FMP, I need to make my preparations for the end of year show. I already have a pretty clear idea of all of the things I want to include in my setup, with my current list being:

  • Business cards

  • Stickers

  • Art book

  • Show reel / animation

  • Model display

  • Printed artworks

  • Project logo graphic

  • Table decoration

So far throughout the project, I have made my business cards, book, stands for each, my model and I have some vines from when I made my model I plan on using for table decoration. So all I have left to do is make stickers to pass out, make a show reel or decide if I will just show the FMP animation, print out some drawings to put on the wall and make a physical logo display.

Stickers

Last year, I made some stickers out of my character designs, and would like to do that again. Since people visiting the show wont know my project all too well, I don't want to make one of the characters this time, and instead want to make one that has a design that relates to the project, but makes sense as a stand alone image. I have landed on making a sticker out of the white cat design I made, so I took the image and isolated it with the right dimensions for the site I am using to print them - Vograce. I have decided to order 30 of the cat stickers to put next to my business cards, so visitors are inclined to take both.

Aside from my own stickers, five of us in our class have decided we are going to make a group sticker. We have decided to use this online art base and pick a spot each to draw one of our characters in chibi form. I've chosen to draw Harlowe for my spot, as I think she has the most stand out design of all my characters, and I chose one of the hand holding spots. I offered to combine all the designs into the final sticker, so I made my drawing then added the others' work when they were done into the final product. I also wanted to print out this final design as a poster to put up by the door or entrance to the room we do the show in, so I made that at home as well.

Printing and Logo Design

Although I have my illustrations in my book, I want to print some out to put on the wall around my display, especially since the margin caused some to be a bit off. I have decided to use the six environment or double page illustrations I made. I have printed them out and trimmed them with my paper guillotine so they are all the same size. I plan to just stick them on the wall with blu tac so I can move them around easily.

I also wanted to make a cutout of my ALLURA logo to display either on the wall above everything else, or blu tac onto the top of my computer monitor on show day. To do this, I took the logo and added it to a dark blue background, which I printed out and glued flat to a piece of cardboard. I then trimmed around this to make sturdy display, so I can stick it up without it bending over.

Showreel

For my display, I have decided that I am going to have two tabs open, so I can switch between just looping my final FMP animation, and a showreel of all the design work I have done this year overall. In the showreel, I want to include my FMP animation, ALLURA designs, game design project final piece, game design project illustrations and some of the illustrations from our group vertical slice. I decided to edit the showreel on capcut on my iPad, so I could easily add in all the clips and images as well as add transitions quickly. Here is the final outcome that I plan to display on the computer screen at the end of year show. The image quality isn't great, but I don't mind too much as I can always switch over to the main animation video. I decided to include FMP work and work from my individual game design project, but not the group project as I mainly focused on UI and I don't find it that interesting to look at compared to my other world. I added a little label in the bottom corner to help the viewer know which work is from which project.

Our class also decided to make a group showreel to display on the big board, which I offered to make. I edited it on capcut again but on my computer this time, then added captions for each persons name and project title. My classmate Emmy and I also chose some pictures to make a more silly intro and outro for this one.
